About MiniLorem

MiniLorem is a free placeholder text tool for designers, developers, and writers. No signups, no ads on the tool itself, no telemetry, no AI rewrites — just text generators that do exactly what you ask.

What it does

MiniLorem produces dummy text on demand, in the formats and lengths people actually need:

Everything runs in your browser. The page works the same whether you're online or offline once it's loaded.

Why it exists

Most lorem ipsum generators do one thing: they spit out three paragraphs of Latin. That's fine, but the work designers and developers actually do involves more constraints — a tweet has to fit in 280 characters, a meta description in 155, an SEO title in about 60, a max-length form field in whatever a backend says. MiniLorem builds for those constraints first.

It also exists to answer a question millions of people ask every year: what does this Latin-looking text actually mean? The translator and the reference content explain the history, the source text from Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum (45 BC), and why the words don't add up to anything coherent.

What it doesn't do

Who it's for

How it's built

The whole site is a small set of static HTML files. No frameworks, no build step, no tracking pixels. Generation happens in plain JavaScript in your browser. It's fast because there's almost nothing to load.

Cost and licensing

The site is free to use. To support hosting and continued development, we display ads on some pages. Every block of text MiniLorem generates is in the public domain — use it in personal work, client projects, commercial products, books, or anywhere else you'd like, with no attribution required.
