Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 May 2026
MiniLorem ("we", "us", or "the Site") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the rights you have in relation to it.
Short version: The MiniLorem tool runs entirely in your browser. We don't store the text you generate or paste. We do display ads from Google AdSense and use a privacy-friendly analytics service to understand site usage. Cookies are explained in our Cookie Policy.
1. Who we are
MiniLorem is a free, browser-based lorem ipsum generator and reference site available at https://minilorem.com. For privacy-related questions, contact privacy@minilorem.com.
2. What information we collect
Information you provide
You can use MiniLorem without providing any personal information. The Site has no signup, no login, and no contact forms. The only way to send us information is by contacting us directly via the email addresses on the Contact page; in that case, we receive whatever you choose to include in your email.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our hosting provider and analytics tools automatically collect:
- Your IP address (truncated for analytics purposes).
- Browser type, version, and language.
- Operating system.
- Referring page (the URL you arrived from, if any).
- Pages visited on minilorem.com and the time spent on each.
- Approximate location (country / region) derived from your IP address.
Information stored locally on your device
The MiniLorem tool uses your browser's localStorage to remember preferences such as your chosen theme (dark or light). This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.
Text you generate or paste into the tool
All generation, translation, and formatting happens in JavaScript running in your browser. We do not transmit, log, or store any text you paste into the translator or any text the generator produces.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate and maintain the Site.
- Understand how the Site is used so we can improve it (which features are popular, where bugs occur, which keywords bring visitors).
- Detect and prevent abuse, spam, and security incidents.
- Serve relevant advertising via Google AdSense.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK visitors)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — for security, fraud prevention, and basic analytics that help us run the Site.
- Consent — for non-essential cookies, including those used by Google AdSense for personalised advertising. You can grant or withdraw consent at any time via our cookie banner.
- Legal obligation — when we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and equivalent technologies. The full list, what each one does, and how to opt out are in our Cookie Policy.
6. Advertising and Google AdSense
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google is a third-party vendor, and:
- Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com (EU).
Google's use of data is governed by the Google advertising privacy policy. Some of Google's ad partners may also use cookies and web beacons; a list of certified vendors is available at Google's user consent policy.
For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, ads are personalised only after you grant consent via our cookie banner. If you decline, only non-personalised ads are shown.
7. Analytics
We use a privacy-friendly analytics tool to understand aggregate traffic patterns. Where possible, this tool processes data in a cookieless manner, anonymises IP addresses, and does not build cross-site tracking profiles.
8. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only with:
- Service providers who help us operate the Site (hosting, content delivery, analytics, advertising). These providers are contractually obligated to use the information only as instructed.
- Authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of MiniLorem or its users.
9. International transfers
Some of the third-party services we use are based outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other mechanisms approved by the European Commission and the UK ICO.
10. Data retention
We retain analytics and server log data only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes set out in this policy — typically 14 to 26 months, after which it is deleted or fully anonymised. Email correspondence is retained as long as needed to handle the inquiry.
11. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your information ("right to be forgotten").
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Receive a copy of your information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information in the traditional sense, but the use of advertising cookies may qualify as "sharing" under California law; the cookie banner allows you to opt out.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@minilorem.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
12. Children's privacy
MiniLorem is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including HTTPS encryption for all traffic. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of the page or via a notice on the home page.
15. Contact
